What Should You Know?

  • In 2010, we took a 0% which impacted every employee. We sacrificed when the economy was failing and now is the time to reinvest. We need to attract and retain good, highly qualified, properly certified teachers to protect the quality of our schools. The combination of a high number of upcoming retirements with the unaffordable cost of living (COLA) on the island, makes offering a competitive salary essential. With inflation rates soaring, our previously negotiated wages did not keep up with the cost of living so we need to get a fair increase. The Social Security Administration increased COLA by 5.9%. A recent MV Times article outlines that the housing challenge has reached crisis level and what that means for health care on MV. Please see below for an Employee Leave Form for MA COVID Emergency Sick Time and an Employee Notice.

This form can be used for up to 5 days of COVID related sick time, beginning May 28, 2021 through April 1, 2022.
