MVEA Dues and Taxes

March 28, 2023

If a member itemizes their deductions when submitting taxes, union dues are a professional expense that can be included.
Dues are deducted in 2 different tax years, since they begin in the fall and continue into the new year.  When claiming these dues, the most accurate amount can be obtained from your final December pay stub. It should include YTD (year-to-date) union dues – each town/school has a different label for it.

Teacher and ESP Contracts Ratified

October 23, 2022

We are very happy to share the news with you that at the Thursday, Oct 20th School Committee meeting, the SC voted to ratify the Teacher and ESP contracts for 2022-2025!

This has been a long and challenging process. It has been stressful for everyone and we are so glad that it has come to a good resolution. The entire Negotiations Team wishes to thank you for your support and energy over the last year. All of your actions –  attending meetings,  signing petitions, wearing MVEA shirts and pins, coming to walkouts, and holding signs at Five Corners – made a difference and helped to get us a fair contract.

Congratulations to all!

In solidarity,

Your Teacher Negotiation Team,

Anne Davey
Gina Patti
Natalie Krauthamer
Eve Heyman
Sean DeBettencourt
Elsbeth Todd
